Australia's' Lunar'series investment coin with opal

Perth Mint has released a silver opal coin celebrating the Year of the Tiger. The product is minted as a proof. The reverse of the coin is decorated with real Australian opal. The coin was created from 31.1 g of pure silver of the 0.999th sample. Its diameter is 36.6 mm. Face value - 1 Australian dollar. The circulation of the coin is 5 thousand copies.

Opal is a gem and the official symbol of the Australian women's national basketball team "The Opals." Note that this country is the main exporter of opal. It accounts for about 97% of global production.

The reverse design of the coin was developed by Jennifer McKenna, an artist at the Perth Mint. The central element of the reverse is the image of a tiger, which is made of real Australian opal. The graceful animal, iridescent with various colors, is presented on a black background, which gives the image distinct shapes and volume. Below, a stylized pattern of the colors of the cineraria, which are considered happy for those born in the year of the Tiger, is drawn below the image of the animal. Along the rim there is a geometric frame in the East Asian style. At the top of the coin, just above the Tiger drawing, is engraved "YEAR OF THE TIGER," which stands for "YEAR OF TIGER." At the bottom of the coin, to the left of the animal, are the symbols of the year of issue, weight and metal sample of the coin - "2022 1 oz 9999 SILVER" (2022, 1 ounce 0.9999), and on the right is the monogram of the Perth.

On the obverse of the coin is a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The author of the obverse design is Jody Clark. Queen Elizabeth II is Australia's constitutional monarch. On top of the rim of the coin are inscriptions: the queen's name is "ELIZABETH II" and the issuing country is "AUSTRALIA." At the bottom is the face value of the coin - "1 DOLLAR."

The coin has Australian legal tender status. It comes in a capsule and case with a Chinese character meaning "Tiger." The coins are accompanied by a numbered certificate of authenticity.
